Golf Outing

Third Sunday in a row that Mark and I have been out golfing. My swing has improved so much. I can’t wait to have one of those rounds where everything comes together. We ended up joining a guy that was by himself. Afterwards, Mark and I invited him to church and to golf again. He was interested in church and gave me his phone number. That hasn’t happened in a while. It was really refreshing to here someone was looking for a church.

Rancho Las Trancas

Finally visited another SSF resteraunt to add to the thread. We walked in and knew right away it was going to be good. There were Mexicans everywhere. It was pretty down home cooking. After I ordered the waitress asked if we wanted flour or corn tortillas. I said neither. The look on her face was hillarious. It was kind of like, “Are you insane, don’t you get it, FREE TORTILLAs, whateverrrrr”.

I started with tortilla soup. Simple and tasty. Entree was a chicken chimichanga. It was awesome. Really flaky and the chicken tasted just like grandma Jennie’s. The rice and beans were also really good. The portion size was more than one should eat. We agreed to split a plate next time.

Erica had the “salad” with “house” dressing. It turned out to be the shredded lettuce for meals with a thin salsa poured over the top. Her entree of carne asada was really good. Lots of flavor. It also had rice and beans.

I can’t wait to go again. I’ll save the rice and beans for later and just eat the main item.

They also have live music every Friday. The bar looked popular for locals.

Still kicking

Paul was alive this time last year. We were struggling along, watching him fight to live. It was a tough time for sure. Nothing compares to watching your kid struggle just to breathe and get oxygen into his blood. He was covered with sensors and equipment to keep him going. It was a tough day.

I’ve been riding my bike to work. I still need a helmet. Don’t worry mom, I get one soon. Cars just don’t want to see people on bikes. I changed my route so there are fewer cars passing me. It takes about a 1/2 hour one way. It feels good to get some excercise again.

I got the closet painted and shelves up. Check Erica’s blog for pictures. I’m sure she’ll have some up soon.

We got the Roomba automatic vacuum cleaner. It works great. It finds it’s way around furniture. I did the girls’ room and it picked up all the dog hair. The charge doesn’t last very long but it beats me doing it. It’s fun watching it bump into stuff and work around it. The first time the bin was emptied it was full of dog hair and dirt. Hopefully I won’t have to vacuum much anymore.

See this link below for a story about another dog bite. Funny how only one local paper did a story about it. Definetly because it wasn’t a Pit Bull bite. The Shepherd bit four people in a single incident. Where is the hype, outrage, laws, mass hysteria against German Shepherds???

The day has come…

Well, Paul would have been one tomorrow. It’s hard to put in words how I feel. It’s just kind of a numbing, spacing, questioning, hurting, hating, guilty, regretting, ignoring and checked out kind of feeling. I’m not sure how tomorrow will go at the cemetary. Erica and the girls got party hats, plates and presents. It feels really morbid to do something like that at the cemetary. However, I will do what ever needs to be done in order for us to get through the day. Yesterday was my deceased dad’s birthday and tomorrow is my deceased son’s birthday. July 11th will always be a really wierd day. We are going to remember him by popping open a bottle of Dom Perrion champaign. We’ve had it for almost 10 years now waiting for a special day to open it. I guess it doesn’t get any more special than tomorrow.

I found a bike on the side of the road last Wednesday. It’s a beater for sure. It looks like it was stolen and spray painted black. The brakes had fallen off. The rear wheel was out of alignment and rubbing the frame. The chain was wrapped around the axel. No wonder they dumped it. I spend about a half hour putting things back together. You can ride it, but it’s not safe. The wheels are the wrong size for the frame so the brakes hit the tire instead of the tire rim. I’ll post it for sale on Craigslist. Maybe some will want it for parts. If not, I’ll just post it as a freebie. Here is a couple of pictures:

Now I’m hoping to find a bike to ride to work. I haven’t been able to run without pain so maybe biking will be better.

We bought a Roomba on ebay for about $100 less than retail. Jenna is going to love it.
