E-Soccer

I took the girls to E-Soccer last Saturday. They enjoyed it enough to want to go again today. E-Soccer is a program started a few years back. It’s inclusive for special needs kids and typical kids. The coaches are volunteers from Church. They really praise the kids for all the effort and so there are smiles everywhere. Even if they screw up a drill, they will tell the kids what they did well.

Golf Tournament

For those golfers out there: We have a real treat going on in San Francisco this week. The American Express Championship Tournament is here. I figured there wouldn’t be another chance to see these guys any time soon. I went into work early (4:00a.m.) last Tuesday to get off work at noon. Caught the free shuttle from Daly City BART to Harding Park Golf Course. I didn’t have ticket but I figured someone will be scalping a free one they got. I saw the line for the shuttle and asked if anyone had an extra ticket. Blank stares all the way down. Then a guy gets my attention and opens an envolope. He must have had a dozen tickets. He gave me one. It took about 10 seconds. Jumped on the shuttle. The golf course looked amazing. Tents, flags, banners were everywhere. I snapped some pictures here and there and asked people where the big names were. “Vijay just teed off on seven”, was one guys response. I caught up and low and behold Lyle walks right by me. He was “extra security” while Vijay played his practice round.

Here is a link to a video I took: Lyle-inside the ropes

I watched Vijay, David Toms, and Jim Furyk and some others. It was amazing to see the ball fly that far. The only other person I’ve seen hit that far is my friend Dan. Now I’m waiting for the televised broadcasting to start at 1:30pm today. It’s exciting for me because I’ve played that course several times. It’s pretty cool watching the pros play holes I’ve played. Been in that bunker, that rough, that water before.
