President’s Day
President Lincoln:
As President, he built the Republican Party into a strong national organization. Further, he rallied most of the northern Democrats to the Union cause. On January 1, 1863, he issued the Emancipation Proclamation that declared forever free those slaves within the Confederacy.
From his second inaugural address, “With malice toward none; with charity for all; with firmness in the right, as God gives us to see the right, let us strive on to finish the work we are in; to bind up the nation’s wounds…. ” (He believed in God and freedom for all men.)

Precedents—Washington established two main precedents: a cabinet and the two-year term.
Whiskey Rebellion, 1794—Washington ordered 15,000 troops to Pennsylvania and crushed the first challenge to federal authority.
Farewell Address, 1796—Washington warned against the evils of political parties and “tangling alliances” abroad.
Too bad we did develope a two party system. It is destroying the country. We can’t even agree on who the enemy is. Democrats think GWB is the enemy. Republicans think radical Islam is the enemy.
Even with a troubled divided country, I choose to live here instead of anywhere else in the world. People leave everything behind, risk life and limb just to be here. God bless America and all presidents that guide her.
