Rancho Las Trancas

Finally visited another SSF resteraunt to add to the thread. We walked in and knew right away it was going to be good. There were Mexicans everywhere. It was pretty down home cooking. After I ordered the waitress asked if we wanted flour or corn tortillas. I said neither. The look on her face was hillarious. It was kind of like, “Are you insane, don’t you get it, FREE TORTILLAs, whateverrrrr”.

I started with tortilla soup. Simple and tasty. Entree was a chicken chimichanga. It was awesome. Really flaky and the chicken tasted just like grandma Jennie’s. The rice and beans were also really good. The portion size was more than one should eat. We agreed to split a plate next time.

Erica had the “salad” with “house” dressing. It turned out to be the shredded lettuce for meals with a thin salsa poured over the top. Her entree of carne asada was really good. Lots of flavor. It also had rice and beans.

I can’t wait to go again. I’ll save the rice and beans for later and just eat the main item.

They also have live music every Friday. The bar looked popular for locals.

Boun Gusto

I thought I would archive different restaurants in SSF that I’ve been to. Here is the first post.

Boun Gusto. Italian if you didn’t catch that from the name. I’ve been there on several occassions. I rarely have to pay because a vendor wants to schmooze me for some reason. I’ve been recently after Lisa’s wedding. “Uncle” Carmello treated us that night.

It’s located on Grand Ave. near Airport. I love the fried calamari. It’s a great appetizer. Chicken Marsala is really tasty. I also love the polenta with marinara sauce on it. My wife serves it that way now. Everyone that has been there has enjoyed every meal. Never a complaint.
